Former executive member of the NZ Press Council and Chairman of the industry-wide Media Freedom Committee of editors and news directors, Tim Murphy was also Editor and Editor-in-Chief of The New Zealand Herald titles. In his 30 year career with the Herald he also worked as a reporter, political journalist, and as Deputy Editor and Head of News.
