Sean Mallon is of Sāmoan and Irish descent and is Senior Curator Pacific Cultures at the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa. He and Sébastien Galliot are co-authors of Tatau: A History of Sāmoan Tattooing which is shortlisted for the 2019 Ockham NZ Book Awards.
