From the critically acclaimed Tinder, a modern retelling of the Hans Christian Andersen classic, to Cinderella-inspired I, Coriander, an historical fantasy set in 1600s London at the time of the Puritan Commonwealth, award-winning English author and illustrator Sally Gardner continues to write stories that build on the richness of fairy tales and win fans around the world. A winner of the Carnegie Medal, the Nestle Gold Medal Award and the Costa Children’s Book Award, Sally’s own story as a dyslexic who did not read or write until she was 14, is inspirational. She speaks about being a writer and the ways in which her books are shaped by twisted tales of old.
