Acclaimed writer and editor Barbara Else received a MNZM for services to literature. Her fiction and non-fiction works, plays, short stories and children’s novels are characterised by her humour and sharp wit. In 2016, Barbara was awarded the Storylines Margaret Mahy Medal for services to children's literature. Her latest book Laughing at the Dark is a memoir about finding an identity, a voice and laughter.
