Born in Fiji and raised in New Zealand with Chinese heritage, my culinary journey has been shaped by a rich blend of cultures—whether growing up in my parents’ Chinese takeaway shop or working in diverse food scenes across Melbourne and Vancouver.
As the author of Modern Chinese, I explore Chinese cuisine with a contemporary lens, blending tradition with innovation and assimilation. My mission is to inspire confidence in the kitchen and share the joy of understanding diverse cultures.
Beyond food, I’m a global barista competitor and educator, a two-time NZ Latte Art Champion, and the 2016 NZ Barista Champion, once ranking 6th in the world. Winning MasterChef New Zealand 2022 was a dream come true, further fueling my passion for storytelling through food.
