The Auckland Writers Festival is a charitable trust which presents New Zealand's largest international festival of literature and ideas. Committed to ensuring that the world of books and ideas remains accessible, vibrant and relevant each year we present more than 220 writers and thinkers from around the world in more than 200 stimulating public events, with an annual attendance of 80,000+ in 2024.

Your support is vital so we can continue to deliver the very best writers, the most provocative ideas, the widest ranging events and the strongest Schools Programme possible to New Zealanders. Free events make up 25% of our programme each year making the Festival accessible for all.
