Internationally acclaimed author and poet Alice Walker is best known for her Pulitzer Prize-winning novel The Color Purple, but she has written six other novels, four collections of short stories, four children’s books and volumes of essays and poetry. In 2013 she published Cushion in the Road: Meditation and Wandering as the Whole World Awakens to Being in Harm's Way and World Will Follow Joy: Turning Madness Into Flowers (New Poems). Walker is an activist and believes that developing compassion is a critical task each one of us must undertake. She joins Dr. Selina Tusitala Marsh in conversation.
