The Guardian Fiction Prize winner and MBE recipient Alex Wheatle grew up in a children’s home and started writing lyrics and poetry and DJ-ing in his teenage years, earning the moniker the Brixton Bard. BRIAR WOOD NEW ZEALAND
Writer, poet and academic Briar Wood (Te Hikutu-ki Hokianga, Nga-puhi Nui) has published in a number of journals and anthologies and was Senior Lecturer in English at London Metropolitan University. Her poetry collection Ra- wa- hi is shortlisted for the Ockham NZ Book Awards.
SUE WOOTTON NEW ZEALAND
