Scott Hamilton has a PhD in Sociology and has published on British socialism, Tongan art, the Pacific slave trade, kava drinking, and New Zealand history. He won the inaugural Auckland Mayoral Literary Grant in 2015 and in 2016 published The Stolen Island, supported by a D'Arcy Literary Residency.
