an artist and educator. He was at the forefront of the development of post- object and performance-based art in New Zealand and Australia, and was the founding head of Sydney College of the Arts. He is represented in Auckland by Michael Lett and his contribution to contemporary art is celebrated in
a new book Jim Allen: The Skin of Years.
