AN EVENING WITH KARL OVE KNAUSGÅRD

Norwegian literary phenomenon Karl Ove Knausgård leapt to
notice with his arresting cycle of six autobiographical novels My Struggle (Min Kamp), described by The Paris Review as “extreme in its candor, by turns earnest and satiric, attentive
to the minutiae of postmodern family life”. His latest works are a contemplative four-volume series named after the seasons and inspired by the birth of his daughter, and Home and Away: Writing the Beautiful Game co-written with Fredrik Ekelund, about football and more. Knausgård is also an informed speaker on Edvard Munch and Dante and the author
of A Time for Everything. The book world’s man of the moment joins Paula Morris in conversation. Supported by Norwegian Literature Abroad.

Author Lang Leav is a social
media sensation, like her poetry contemporaries Rupi Kaur and Nayyirah Waheed. She has  ve international bestselling poetry collections, including Love & Misadventure, Lullabies and The Universe of Us, and her novel Sad Girls has topped the bestselling charts in several countries. She is a recipient
of a Qantas Spirit of Youth Award
and a Churchill Fellowship and her work explores themes of love, loss and empowerment. Leav was born in a Thai refugee camp and spent much
of her seminal years in Australia before settling in Auckland. Her work and inspiration will be the focus of an hour, chaired by Courtney Sina Meredith.

ON SONG: MOANA MANIAPOTO
SATURDAY MAY 19 – 7.00-8.00PM HEARTLAND FESTIVAL ROOM, AOTEA SQUARE
Legendary musician, documentary maker and feature writer Moana Maniapoto (Nga-ti Tu-wharetoa/Tu- hourangi-Nga- ti Wahiao) joins Tama Waipara in the Heartland Festival Room for an hour of chat and music. With her band Moana & the Tribe she has performed around the world, sharing her “blend of traditional
and contemporary styles without compromising either” (The New Zealand Herald) with lyrics rooted in the NZ landscape, culture and experience. Maniapoto is an Arts Foundation Laureate, winner of the Grand Jury Prize for International Songwriting, was inducted into the APRA AMCOS NZ Hall of Fame in 2016, and her album Rima was
a  nalist for all three major music awards in 2015. She is currently in production for her sixth studio album ONO.
Venue and bar open from 6pm; stay on afterwards and enjoy the atmosphere and the free session that follows. Eligible for concession pass selection.
